Eligul Breaks 100-Free School Record; BU Finishes Second at Terrier Invitational

BOSTON - Senior Sezin Eligul broke her school record in the 100-yard freestyle on the final day of the Terrier Invitational on Sunday evening at FitRec Competition Pool, helping the Boston University women's swimming & diving team finish second in the six-team field.
The Terriers finished with 1068 points, 131 clear of third-place Northeastern. Boston College took the top spot with 1,552 points.
Eligul swam a 50.20 in the 100 free, breaking the school record of 50.33 she shared with Sybil Smith, to earn her second win of the meet.
BU collected 73.5 points from the championship final of the 100 free as Eligul took first, senior Francesca Leung placed third (51.52), sophomore Madison Kim was seventh (51.94) and freshman Summer Brainin tied for ninth (52.18).
Other top BU finishes from Sunday included Mitchell taking fifth in the 200 back (2:00.36), sophomore Ellie Graves placing sixth in the 1650 free (17:12.59) and freshman Ashley Scafetta finishing ninth in the 200 breast.
The team of Leung, Brainin, Kim and Eligul took second in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:24.14, just .14 off first. BU's B and C relays took seventh and 10th, respectively.
The Terriers will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 4, when they visit Colgate.
