BOSTON, Mass. – Junior Liz Shean matched her career-high with 12 points off the bench, and classmate Sydney Johnson scored in double figures for the fourth time this year, but Yale (4-2) grinded out a 57-51 win over BU (2-3) on Wednesday afternoon at Case Gym.

For the second time in four days, the Terriers had a lead at halftime, only for their opponent to take a narrow edge into the fourth quarter. Though both teams combined to shoot just 8-for-29 in the third, the Bulldogs shot 70 percent in the final stanza to fend off the Terriers.

Sophomore Caitlin Weimar was the third Terrier in double figures, totaling 10 points while adding a team-best nine boards and three steals.

Camilla Emsbo led all student-athletes with 17 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double. Christen McCann and Klara Astrom notched 13 and 12 points, respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Both teams started slow, combining for six turnovers in the opening three minutes. Johnson assisted on Weimar's layup to start the scoring, then knocked down a left-wing three on the second BU basket.
The Terriers' largest lead in the opening stanza was 11-4 following a Johnson layup and two foul shots from Weimar. BU went into the second up 12-7.
A 10-3 Bulldog spurt knotted the game at 14, capped with a Jenna Clark score coming out of a media timeout.
Sophomore Sophie Beneventine started an 8-2 BU run with a turnaround jumper from the left elbow, concluding with senior Chiara Tibbitt's jump shot by the right elbow.
The Terriers maintained a 22-16 at that point, and led by as much as 27-20 after Shean sank a three and Weimar converted underneath. However, McCann drilled a three with 18 seconds left to make it 27-23 Terriers at halftime.
That bucket ignited an 8-2 burst that allowed Yale to get within one, eventually tying the game at 33 with Astrom's triple at the 5:03 mark of the third quarter.
Beneventine buried another midrange jumper, but Emsbo made three foul shots to return Yale's edge. Shean pulled up for two with 45 seconds left, making it 38-37 Bulldogs heading into the fourth.
Yale opened the final period with a 9-1 spurt, holding BU scoreless for 4:12 in the quarter to take their largest lead at 47-39.
Back-to-back buckets from Johnson and Beneventine cut the Terriers' deficit to four, but McCann responded with a three as the clock read 2:25.
Shean knocked down at three-pointer, then Johnson followed Weimar's free throw with a charity stripe jumper to get BU within 55-51 with just under a minute remaining, but the Terriers were held off the rest of the way.

GAME NOTES

BU shot 40.8 percent from the field, but shot just 4-of-16 from distance.
The Terriers collected 12 assists, their second-best total on the year.
Yale won the rebounding battle, 31-28, and outscored the home team 20-12 in points in the paint.
BU continued to get bench production, as the reserves combined for 23 points.
Johnson, despite being in foul trouble for most of the game, has reached double digits in 12 of her last 14 games, dating back to Feb. 7.
Shean's 23 points in her last two games is the most in a two-game stretch in her BU tenure. Wednesday marked her third-career game with 10-plus points.
In her last three contests, Weimar has made 10-of-19 shots (52.6 percent), averaging 7.3 rebounds in that span.
BU still leads the all-time series with Yale 11-5, though the Bulldogs have won three in a row.
