WORCESTER, Mass. – Seeing its first action in 20 days, the Boston University men's basketball team fell at Holy Cross, 82-65, on Saturday afternoon.
The Crusaders (3-8, 3-8 PL) went 27-of-47 (.574) from the field and held the Terriers (3-6, 3-6 PL) to 36.4 percent shooting to snap a five-game losing streak at the Hart Center to BU.

Sukhmail Mathon was the third Terrier in double figures at 12 points. Austin Butler led Holy Cross with 20 points and 11 rebounds, as Gerrale Gates came up two boards shy of a second double-double with 13 points.
TURNING POINT
- Down by as many as five in the first half, Mathon and McCoy hit back-to-back buckets to tie the game for the seventh and final time, 36-36, at 18:37 in the second half.
- Gates hit two free throws on the next possession, as the Crusaders went on a 12-2 run capped by Butler's layup on Judson Martindale's steal over the next four minutes.
- After Butler extended the lead to 57-43 at 10:25, the Terriers eventually cut the deficit to single digits, 59-51, on Pascoe's jumper with 6:33 remaining.
- BU was unable to get any closer after R.J. Johnson hit two free throws to keep the lead at double digits for the rest of the contest.
THE SETUP
- Junior Jonas Harper opened the contest with a 3-pointer, but Ryan Wade flushed one of his own to erase BU's largest lead of the contest.
- Freshman Miles Brewster added another at 10:25 to keep the game tied, 13-13, before Matt Faw pushed Holy Cross' lead back to three on the next possession.
- The teams traded blows the rest of the half with McCoy tying the game on a fastbreak layup, 21-21, at 5:16.
- The Crusaders scored five quick points with the help of Martindale's 3-pointer and used Butler's layup to maintain the five-point advantage, 28-23, at 2:29.
- BU shot 11-of-12 from the charity stripe in the first half and used those points to come back and tie the game, 32-32, with 46 seconds left in the half.
- Bo Montgomery converted on the next possession with a layup and helped the defense challenge BU's jump shot attempt before the buzzer to enter the locker room ahead, 34-32.
GAME NOTES
- Currently No. 20 all-time at BU with 1,178 points, McCoy needs 14 more to tie No. 19 LeVar Folk ('99).
- Though BU only committed one extra turnover (13-12), the Crusaders finished with a 22-11 advantage in points off turnovers.
- The Terriers finished ahead in second-chance points, 18-2, and had a slight 21-19 advantage in made free throws but hit five fewer 3-pointers (9-4).
- Holy Cross also had a 20-11 advantage in points off the bench.
NEXT UP: HOLY CROSS
- The Terriers will return home to host the Crusaders on Sunday (Feb. 14) at 5 p.m.
- The matchup will be preceded by the BU women hosting Army at 1 p.m.
- HC won the last contest at The Roof, 68-66, on Jan. 5 by holding BU to 29.4 FG% in the second half.
