CAMDEN, NJ - Highlighted by a silver and two bronze-medal performances, the Boston University women's rowing team finished third at the at the Patriot League Championships in Camden, N.J. on Friday.

BU won silver in the varsity four competition and bronze in both the varsity eight and second varsity eight competition to finish behind 2021 PL Champion Navy and runner-up Bucknell. Navy won gold in all three competitions and took home their sixth-consecutive PL team title.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The varsity eight boat, coxed by Mia Ball and stroked by Megan Mastrorilli, finished first in its morning heat race with a time of 7:03. 15, ahead of Bucknell (7:05.74), Holy Cross (7:26.60) and Loyola (7:45.70) and moved on to the afternoon grand final.
In the final race of the day, the varsity eight grand final, the Terriers battled Navy and Bucknell in the early going with all three boats within a seat of each other over the first 500 meters. Navy opened a three seat lead at the 1000 meter mark as BU and Bucknell were even for second. Navy continued to stretch its lead over the second half of the race as Bucknell settled into second. Navy won gold with a time of 6:34.638, followed by Bucknell (6:37.386) then BU (6:43.674)
With the win, Navy earned 27 points and their sixth-consecutive PL team title.

The second varsity eight boat, coxed by Christina Lamagna and stroked by Tiare Hicks finished second in its heat race with a time of 7:26.82, behind Bucknell (7:20.30), and ahead of Holy Cross (7:33.41) and Loyola (8:12.69).
In the grand final, the BU 2V8 got off to a good start and led a close race over the first 500m. Navy caught the Terriers and pulled away at the halfway mark and stretched their lead over the final 500 meters. Navy won with a time of 7:07.199, followed by Bucknell ( 7:11.37) with BU in third (7:19.49).

The varsity four boat, coxed by Kellyann Reidy and stroked by Piper Korn, won its heat race with a time of 8:07.73, ahead of Bucknell (8:11.22) and Loyola (9:30.39).
In the grand final, the BU V4 got off to a strong start and pulled away from the pack along with Navy. Navy moved ahead of BU as Bucknell challenged the Terriers throughout. BU fought off the Bison over the final 100 meters and took silver in a very exciting race with a time of 7:43.22, behind race-winner Navy (7:40.07) and just ahead of Bucknell (7:43.57).
