**UPDATED SCHEDULE**
The Regatta will begin Friday morning with V8 time trials beginning at 7:00am to determine the seeding order of the afternoon semifinals. The first varsity eight semifinals will begin at 3pm on Friday with teams racing to advance to the grand finals on Saturday. The V4 grand final is scheduled for 8:20am on Saturday while the varsity eight grand final will start at 10:30am.
The BU varsity eight boat enters the regatta ranked No. 7 in the nation by the
IRCA poll after an abbreviated spring season of competition. Perennial powers University of Washington (1) and California (2) lead the polls entering the regatta.
"We are very excited to be racing at the IRA regatta this week," said head coach
Thomas Bohrer. "With so much uncertainty if the IRA regatta was even going to happen, and now with 32 entries in the Varsity 8 – it is just incredible! Every program entered has had their own level of limitations on how much they could train during the year, but they found a way to make it work. I think of the IRA this year as a celebration of our sport and I imagine that all of the athletes will be happy to be back doing what they love."
"We have had a very productive training camp over the past two weeks. With the end of finals and a tough academic period behind us it has been nice to just concentrate on training. We had not done much speed work over the spring so the last 2 weeks has given us the chance to get the boats moving at a level of where we think we should be. It has built confidence among the guys and I am excited to see what they can do."
In 2019, the last time the regatta was held, BU finished eighth as a team in the IRA Ten Eyck Points Championship standings with 136 points, a nine point improvement over 2018. The BU V8 and 3V8 boats both finished eighth overall while the 2V8 and V4 finished seventh.
