BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Boston University women's basketball program placed four student-athletes on All-Patriot League Teams for the 2021-22 season, the league announced on Friday morning.
Junior Sydney Johnson paced the Terriers with a spot on the All-Patriot League First Team. Classmate Maren Durant and sophomore Caitlin Weimar were selected to the Third Team, while Durant added All-Defensive Team recognition. Freshman Alex Giannaros capped off her first collegiate regular season with an All-Rookie Team honor.
BU led the Patriot League with four different student-athletes capturing accolades. The Terriers were one of two schools, Bucknell being the other, to have representation on four different teams.
SYDNEY JOHNSON – ALL-PL FIRST TEAM
- Johnson becomes the third Terrier in program history to earn All-Patriot League First Team honors, joining Sophie Beaudry (2017) and former teammate Katie Nelson (2021).
- After an All-Rookie and Second Team selection in 2020 and 2021, respectively, she has set career-highs this season with team-bests of 16 points and 3.5 assists per game.
- The junior averaged 17.1 points on 42.6 percent shooting in Patriot League play, ranking third and fourth in those respective categories.

MAREN DURANT – ALL-PL THIRD TEAM AND ALL-DEFENSIVE TEAM
- Like Johnson, Durant also earns postseason recognition for the third-straight year, collecting her second consecutive Third Team honor. She also picks up her second All-Defensive Team accolade after garnering a spot in 2020.
- The Winchester, Mass. product leads BU with a career-best 9.1 rebounds per game, boosting that mark to 10.4 in league action.
- One of two Terriers to play in all 29 games in 2021-22, she has snagged 10 or more rebounds in 13 games. Her career-high is 17, set against Army West Point back on Jan. 12.
- Durant ranks third in the Patriot League and 45th nationally with 49 blocks this year. As of writing, that stands as the seventh-most in a single season in the Terrier annals.
- She has vaulted herself to fifth all-time in program history with 122 career blocks.
CAITLIN WEIMAR – ALL-PL THIRD TEAM
- Weimar picks up her first Third Team selection in her first year at BU, after earning MAAC Co-Rookie of the Year and All-Rookie honors at Marist in 2021.
- She has filled the stat sheet with an average of 10 points (third on the team), 8.6 rebounds (second) and 1.4 blocks per game in the regular season.
- The Cortlandt Manor, N.Y. native has scored 10-plus points in 13 games, and has snagged 10 or more rebounds in 12.
- During Patriot League play, she averaged 11.3 points and 10.1 boards per game, being one of four student-athletes to average a double-double in league action.
- Her 26 rejections in that span are also fourth-most in the league.
ALEX GIANNAROS – PL ALL-ROOKIE TEAM
- Giannaros becomes the eighth Patriot League All-Rookie selection at BU. The Terriers have had an All-Rookie honoree in six of their nine seasons as a league member.
- The freshman has a team-high 38 three-pointers this season, and ranks second on the team with 10.2 points per game.
- Her 12.9 points per game against Patriot League foes was second among rookies, and seventh overall. She was also second with 2.2 triples per league game.
- All 11 of her games where she scored in double figures came against Patriot League competition.
- Giannaros also racked up 46 assists to finish the regular season second on the team.
BU, the No. 3 seed in the Patriot League Tournament, will host No. 6 Army West Point in the quarterfinal round on Monday (Mar. 7) at Case Gym.
