Women's Rowing Places 19th at NCAA Championships

SARASOTA, Fla. – Highlighted by the varsity eight boat's D final victory and the second varsity eight boat's C final appearance, the Patriot League champion Boston University women's rowing team finished 19th overall in the NCAA Championships on Sunday morning at Nathan Benderson Park.
The Terriers secured 23 points to improve on the 17 points recorded in their last NCAA appearance in 2014 to place ahead of CAA champion Northeastern (17), Atlantic 10 champion Rhode Island (15) and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference champion Jacksonville (7).
BU's varsity eight boat coxed by senior Mia Ball and stroked by junior Kat Robbins jumped out to a nearly three-second lead over the first 500 meters and went on to win the last race of the 2022 campaign by open water with a time of 6:39.290 in the D final. The Huskies took second at 6:46.209 with URI (6:49.790) placing third and Jacksonville (6:55.040) finishing fourth.
Defeating both Northeastern and Jacksonville in Saturday's semifinal to earn a spot in the C final, the second varsity eight boat coxed by sophomore Trisha Jaggi and stroked by junior Tiare Hicks raced against five crews from nationally ranked programs. They placed sixth at 6:50.436 behind No. 18 USC (6:44.896) with No. 16 Rutgers winning at 6:37.800.
The varsity four boat coxed by freshman Audrey Lucerne and stroked by freshman Hannah Look took fourth in its respective D final at 7:47.324, finishing behind Jacksonville's 7:45.572. Northeastern won at 7:37.620.
