Terriers Race in IRA Semifinals

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – Continuing the IRA National Championship Regatta, the No. 12 Boston University men's rowing team had all three boats race in their respective semifinals Saturday morning on Lake Mercer.
Both the second varsity eight and third varsity eight boats both placed fourth in the A/B semis to reach the Petite Final, while the varsity eight boat took second in the C/D semis to advance to Sunday's 3rd Level Final.
Coxed by Matt Murphy and stroked by Harrison Steck, the second varsity eight boat took fourth at 5:48.284, missing out on a Grand Final appearance to third-place finisher Princeton by 0.84 seconds. California won the race at 5:44.018 ahead of Princeton, while Harvard took fifth at 5:50.872.
The third varsity eight boat coxed by Peter Adams and stroked by Owen Loeb also placed fourth at 5:58.399, 2.5 seconds behind third-place finisher Dartmouth, to reach the Petite Final. Harvard (5:47.185) and Brown (5:50.933) took the top two spots, while Syracuse took fifth at 6:01.345.
Needing a top-three result to reach the 3rd Level Final, the varsity eight boat coxed by William Mulhall and stroked by Bowen de Gouw posted a time of 5:52.265 to finish 3.47 seconds behind Stanford, while Columbia placed third at 5:56.211.
The V8 will start off Sunday's competition at 9:10 a.m. with the 3V8 racing next at 9:20 a.m. The 2V8 will conclude the IRAs at 9:50 a.m.
