EASTON, Pa. – Senior Sydney Johnson became the 25th Terrier in program history to score 1,000 career points as the Boston University women's basketball program took down Lafayette 66-48 on Thursday evening at the Kirby Sports Center.

Tied at 24-24 with 4:38 remaining in the second quarter, BU (8-6, 3-0 PL) went on to score 36 of the game's next 46 points, leading by as much as 26 points on the Leopards (3-10, 0-3 PL). The Terriers have won three in a row to start Patriot League play for the third consecutive season.

Junior Caitlin Weimar set a career-high with 23 points, collecting 12 rebounds for her eighth double-double of the year. Senior Maren Durant snagged 13 rebounds, eight assists, and four blocks, while sophomore Alex Giannaros and senior Maggie Pina posted 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Kayla Drummond led Lafayette with 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Abby Antognoli returned for the Leopards to notch nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After BU scored on the game's opening possession, Lafayette scored seven-straight points to take a 7-2 lead.
The Terriers got a trio of threes from Giannaros, Shean, and Johnson as part of an 11-0 Terrier run over five minutes gave the visitors a 13-7 advantage.
Tied at 15-15 early in the second quarter, senior Maggie Pina nailed a right-wing triple for BU's fourth of the evening, making it 18-15.
Lafayette responded with six-consecutive points to go ahead 21-18 three minutes into the frame.
Weimar unleashed 14 of the Terriers' final 16 points of the frame, starting at the 6:48 mark. She had consecutive conventional three-point plays on layups underneath the rim in the final two minutes to help guide the Terriers to a 34-27 halftime edge.
Antognoli opened the third quarter with a three 67 seconds in, but Giannaros responded with a pair of triples to give the Terriers a 40-30 edge, coaxing a Leopard timeout at the 7:18 mark.
After Drummond's layup with 7:03 on the clock, BU rattled off a 14-0 run over the course of five minutes. Pina scored the first five points in the spurt, and seven total.
Weimar's third and-one bucket of the game with 1:30 to go in the quarter pushed her over her career-high, making it 57-34 Terriers.
Neither side scored in the first 1:50 of the fourth until Johnson canned her third triple of the evening as the clock read 8:10 and the scoreboard 60-34.
Her milestone basket came just inside the arc on the right elbow with 7:34 remaining, eliciting a celebration from the Terrier bench behind her right shoulder.
Senior Annabelle Larnard cashed in a jumper near the midpoint of the fourth, while freshman Anastasiia Semenova laid in a feed from junior Kelsi Mingo at the 2:12 mark to cap BU's scoring on the evening.

STATS

The Terriers shot 41.5 percent from the field, and 37.5 percent from three.
Lafayette was 19-for-58 (32.8 percent) from the field, and just 5-for-22 from deep (22.7 percent).
Eight of BU's nine threes came from the starting lineup, with Johnson and Giannaros each nailing all three of their chances.
The Terriers tallied 20 assists on 27 baskets, marking the second time this season BU reached the 20-assist plateau.

GAME NOTES

Johnson becomes the first Terrier since former teammate Katie Nelson on Jan. 9, 2021 to score her 1,000th point. She accomplishes the feat in her 86th career game.
The Powder Springs, Ga. native has now scored in double figures in 54 career contests.
Weimar's previous career-high was 21 points in the Patriot League quarterfinal round against Army West Point on Mar. 7.
In three Patriot League games, Weimar's 18.7 points and 13.3 rebounds per game rank second and first across the league in that span, respectively.
Durant's eight assists surpass her career-high, which was previously five, last accomplished against Harvard on Dec. 21, 2022.
With her four blocks, she moves into fourth place all-time at BU, passing Nicole Gourdet '97. Those four rejections and 13 caroms are both season-highs as well.
Giannaros is now shooting 68.4 percent from three this season (13-for-19). Thursday marked her fifth game out of seven season appearances in double digits.
Pina tallied her first game with 10-plus points since Dec. 7, 2022 against Merrimack.
BU drained nine three-pointers for the fourth time this season, and first since the game against the Warriors.
The Terriers improve to 19-10 all-time against the Leopards, having won seven of the last nine meetings. Thursday was the largest margin of victory for the Terriers over Lafayette since Jan. 8, 2017.
