Falkstrom's Record Swim Highlights Day Two of Terrier Invite

BOSTON - Graduate student Kyle Falkstrom broke his own school record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a pool-record time of 53.54 seconds on Saturday evening at the Terrier Invite.
The Terriers continue to lead the team standings at the three-day meet with 1264.5 points with Massachusetts in second with 1117.
Two other Terriers claimed wins with personal-best swims as freshman Evan Liu won the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 3:58.24 and senior Justin Lee swam a 49.13 to take first in the 100-yard butterfly.
Senior Adrien Pierce gave the Terriers their fourth individual win of the night when he touched the wall first in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 50.15 seconds.
The Terriers' top 200-yard medley relay also notched a win as sophomore Tony Ponomarev, Falkstrom, Lee and Pierce turned in a time of 1:29.20.
Freshman Ethan Huynh (55.61) and junior Andy Carlson (55.78) finished runner-up and third to Falkstrom in the 100 breast with a time of 53.54 while senior Jackson Olin (100 fly, 49.83) and junior Dolan Grisbaum (400 IM, 4:02.31) added third-place finishes.
Ponomarev was runner-up to Pierce in the 100 back in a time of 50.41 seconds while junior Keegan Duffy was third (50.42) and Olin tied for fourth (50.90). Olin added a third-place effort in the 100 fly (49.83).
The 800-yard freestyle relay of Falkstrom, Liu, freshman Jonathan Tsang and freshman Jonny Farber took second with a time of 6:41.63.
The Terrier Invite will wrap up on Sunday (Nov. 19) with prelims starting at 10 a.m. and finals getting underway at 5 p.m.
