Men's Basketball Back at The Roof to Host VTSU-Johnson

BOSTON – The Boston University men's basketball will wrap up the Thanksgiving holiday weekend by hosting Vermont State University Johnson on Sunday afternoon with tip-off slated for 2 p.m.

The contest will mark the second at Case Gym this month for BU following an 95-79 victory over Bryant back on Nov. 16.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU will try to start 2-0 at home for the third consecutive season after opening 4-0 in each of the last two years. The Terriers are coincidentally on an active four-game home winning streak after winning the last three conference games in February. 
  • The Terriers are 13-1 over the last 14 home non-conference games.
  • In Tuesday's loss at Davidson, freshman Matai Baptiste (7.6 ppg, 3.6 rpg) became the first Terrier to lead BU in scoring in multiple games. Five different Terriers have led in rebounds.
  • Reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Week Kyrone Alexander leads BU at 8.8 ppg after tallying 17 points in the last home game against Bryant and most recently hauled in a season-high eight rebounds against Davidson.
  • Senior Miles Brewster (7.6 ppg, 3.6 rpg) leads BU with 14 assists and 12 steals, while sophomore Otto Landrum (7.6 ppg, 5.0 rpg) has eight assists and a team-high three blocks.
  • Junior Ethan Okwuosa (6.6 ppg, 4.4 rpg) has the team's lone double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds against Bryant.
  • Overall, BU is averaging 59.2 ppg and 37.2 FG% while holding opponents to 69.6 ppg and 43.3 FG%. 
SCOUTING VTSU-JOHNSON
  • The Badgers are facing their second NCAA Division I opponent of the week following an 106-57 loss at Vermont on Wednesday. 
  • VTSU-Johnson own an 88-80 win at VTSU-Lyndon, and three of the losses have been by single digits, including a 65-56 decision at Hartford.
  • Nazir Gossette is averaging a team-high 17.5 ppg alongside 5.3 rpg, while Raymond Baka is averaging a double-double with 16.5 ppg and 12.0 rpg.
  • Overall, the Badgers are averaging 64.8 ppg and 38.8 FG% while holding opponents to 78.7 ppg and 47.2 FG%.
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU will face the Badgers for the first time in program history.
  • The Terriers last faced a member of the NAC in 2019, earning a 91-63 win over SUNY Poly.
UP NEXT
  • BU will be back on the road with a trip to former America East rival, UAlbany, on Wednesday (Nov. 29) at 7 p.m.
