Terriers, Midshipmen to Clash in PL Semifinal on CBS Sports Network Sunday Afternoon

BOSTON – Riding a three-game win streak, the No. 4 seeded Boston University men's basketball team will visit regular season champion Navy in the Patriot League semifinal contest set for Sunday at 2 p.m. on the CBS Sports Network.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU was the only team to have three players earn All-Patriot League honors, though Navy's two won major award honors in Player and Defensive Player of the Year recognition.
- Ranking sixth nationally at 45.0 3FG%, All-PL First Team member Michael McNair leads the Terriers at 16.9 ppg, while 2nd Team honoree Ben Defty is averaging a team-high 6.7 rpg with 14.9 ppg. Defty ranks second in the country shooting 68.8 FG%.
- A Third Team honoree, freshman Chance Gladden is third on the squad at 14.1 ppg with a team-high 4.7 apg.
- BU won for the first time this season when finishing behind in rebounds in the quarterfinal victory over defending PL champion American.

SCOUTING THE MIDSHIPMEN
- Navy is riding a 14-game win steak with a 22-1 record over the last 23 games. The lone loss occurred at American, 65-51, back on Jan. 12.
- The Mids are 15-1 at home compared to their 11-5 away record with 11+ point home wins against Colgate, Lehigh, Loyola Maryland, Bucknell, Army, Holy Cross and Lafayette ... Navy's lone home loss came against Yale, 97-68.
- Patriot League Player of the Year and 5-foot-11 guard Austin Benigni leads Navy at 18.0 ppg with 4.3 apg.
- 6-foot-11 center and Defensive Player of the Year Aidan Kehoe is averaging a double-double at 15.1 ppg and 10.8 rpg while shooting an impressive 73.5 FG% to lead the nation.
- Navy is averaging 74.8 ppg and 47.8 FG% while holding opponents to 63.5 ppg and 40.1 FG% ... Only average 6.7 made 3FGs per game but make up for it with 5.5 more free throws than opponents, 16.1-10.6.
SERIES HISTORY
- Navy has won the last three meetings to put the series in a 15-15 deadlock.
- The two programs will meet in the PL tournament for the third consecutive year after splitting the two quarterfinal matchups hosted by the Terriers.
- The teams are tied in PL tournament action at 2-2 with BU winning the quarterfinal contest held at home in 2020, and the Midshipmen outlasting BU in the 2022 overtime semifinal on their own court.
- Navy has won the previous six meetings held in Alumni Hall with BU last prevailing back in 2020 during the regular season en route to the PL title.

- Sunday's advancing team will face either No. 2 Lehigh or No. 3 Colgate on Wednesday (March 11) at 7 p.m. with the automatic NCAA bid on the line
- The Mountain Hawks and Raiders will compete at noon, and the highest remaining seed will host the title game.
- BU lost to Lehigh twice by a combined 5 pts., and the home team won both times in the series split with Colgate.
