Falkstrom Breaks 100 Breast School Record on Day 3 of PL Championships

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Senior Kyle Falkstrom of the Boston University men's swimming & diving team broke the school record in the 100-yard breaststroke on Friday morning and went on to a third-place finish at the Patriot League Championships, held at Bucknell's Kinney Natatorium.
In the prelims, Falkstrom swam a 53.75 to top the old mark of 54.30 that was set by Austin Dickey in 2014. He went to post a 53.83 in the finals to earn the bronze and 16 points.
Sophomores Nathan Herman and Dolan Grisbaum each collected points in the 400-yard IM as Herman won the consolation final in a time of 3:54.08 and Grisbaum was sixth in that race, swimming it in 4:00.05.
In the consolation final of the 100-yard backstroke, freshman Tony Ponomarev took fourth (12th overall) with a time of 49.53 and junior Adrien Pierce added a point with a time of 49.79.
Senior Sarsen Whatmore was 13th overall in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:39.60.
Freshman David Johnson qualified for the B final of the 1-meter dive and earned a point with a score of 203.15.
In the final event of the evening, the 200-yard freestyle relay of senior Jacob Lindner, senior Ethan Thomas, junior Justin Lee and Pierce swam a time of 1:20.25, which was just behind the school record, but was disqualifed for an early start.
The fourth and final day of the PL Championships will take place on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. The Terriers are currently fifth out of 10 teams in the standings.
