No. 13 Men’s Rowing Concludes Time At Lake Morey Invite

FAIRLEE, Vt. – The No. 13 Boston University men's rowing program wrapped up its time at the two-day Lake Morey Invite, held between April 29-30 on Lake Morey.
BU squared off against three ranked programs in the IRA/IRCA Men's Varsity 8+ Poll in No. 5 Syracuse, No. 6 Dartmouth, and No. 16 Georgetown. The former two featured races for the Conlan Cup and Bill Cup, respectively.
The Terrier Varsity 8, coxed by Peter Adams and stroked by Bowen de Gouw, competed against Syracuse and Georgetown on Saturday (April 29). The Orange retained the Conlan Cup after finishing first in a time of 5:40.83, while BU clocked in at 5:46.46. The Terriers rebounded with a win over the Hoyas in 5:54.73, nearly six seconds ahead of Georgetown's crew. On Sunday (April 30), Dartmouth topped BU for the Bill Cup with a 5:55.69 performance, compared to the 6:04.18 Terrier time.
BU's Second Varsity 8, coxed by Emily Slawin and stroked by Friedrich Amelingmeyer, picked up a win over Georgetown in 6:07.05, seven seconds over its Third Varsity 8 counterparts and 24 seconds ahead of the Hoyas. Syracuse (5:50.12) defeated the Terriers (5:53.26) on Saturday, while the Big Green (6:14.52) was six seconds ahead of BU (6:20.52) on Sunday.
The Third Varsity 8, coxed by Luke Stroh and stroked by Dylan Fagiani, was just under six seconds shy of the Orange on Saturday with a time of 5:58.39 before placing second in the race between the Terriers' and Hoyas' 2V8. Sunday's race saw BU place second in 6:34.37, 12 seconds behind Dartmouth.
BU's Fourth Varsity 8, coxed in tandem with Micah Lee and Philip Melki and stroked by Ian Varga, had two races on the weekend. The first was a second-place result against the Orange on Saturday in a time of 6:07.61. BU would race Syracuse again along with Dartmouth later in the afternoon, crossing the line in 6:17.43 for a third-place performance.
In its final race before the IRA National Championship Regatta, the Terriers take part in the 2023 Eastern Sprints on Sunday (May 14), held on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
