Ericksen Earns PL Rookie Of The Week Honors
January 22, 2024 | Women's Basketball
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the first time in her career, Boston University women's basketball freshman guard Audrey Ericksen has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday for the week of Jan. 22.
Ericksen is the third Terrier to earn a weekly award from the league this season, and joins her classmate, Inés Monteagudo Pardo, in capturing the recognition. This marks the first time since the 2019-20 campaign that multiple BU student-athletes were named Rookie of the Week in the same year.
The Cary, N.C. native averaged 14 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in two contests last week. She hit nine of her 13 shots (69.2 percent), and was a perfect 5-for-5 from three-point range.
On Jan. 17 at Bucknell, Ericksen notched 11 first-half points by making four of her first five attempts. She followed that up with a career-high tying 17 points with a trio of threes, five rebounds, two blocks, and two steals in the win over Colgate on Jan. 20. Two of those triples came in the fourth quarter, and she shot 5-for-7 overall in the matchup.
In her rookie campaign, Ericksen is fourth on the team with seven points per game, while leading all guards with a .456 field goal percentage (minimum 30 attempts). She is second on BU with 20 three-pointers, and has made all 17 of her free throws this year.
The Terriers return to action on Wednesday (Jan. 24) in a road tilt at Army West Point. Opening tip is set for 6 p.m.
