Giannaros Named To Preseason All-Patriot League Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Boston University women's basketball senior tri-captain Alex Giannaros has been named to the 2024-25 Preseason All-Patriot League Team, the conference announced on Wednesday.
This marks Giannaros' first-career league preseason honor. With her selection, a Terrier has earned a spot on the Preseason All-PL Team in three consecutive years, and four times in the last five iterations.
Recently selected as a captain for the first time in her Terrier tenure, Giannaros is BU's leading returning scorer from 2023-24. The Brockton, Mass. native garnered First Team All-Patriot League recognition with a career-best 14.2 points per game, good for fifth in the conference. She also ranked in the top-five across the league in minutes per game (33.4 - fifth), steals (1.7 per game – fourth), and three-pointers per game (2.3 – third).
The all-time three-point field goal percentage leader in both program and Patriot League history with a .440 clip, Giannaros has scored 963 points across 82 contests. Her 162 three-pointers are tied for seventh-most in the BU record books.
Giannaros is one of three seniors on the Preseason All-Patriot League Team, joining Colgate's Taylor Golembiewski and Loyola Maryland's Lex Therien. Sophomores Ashley Sofilkanich (Bucknell) and Zanai Barnett-Gay (Navy) round out the five selections.
The Patriot League also announced its preseason poll on Wednesday. BU was projected to finish fifth, garnering two first-place votes and 106 total points. Five teams gained at least one first-place vote, while just eight points separated the teams ranked third through sixth.
BU ignites the 2024-25 campaign on Monday (Nov. 4) for Terrier Tip-Off, hosting a doubleheader with the men's basketball team against Northeastern at Case Gym. The women are set to tip at 4:30 p.m.
