Koska, Kreutzelman Tabbed Empacher-IRCA All-Americans
June 20, 2024 | Men's Rowing
BOSTON – The Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association (IRCA) has tabbed Boston University men's rowing graduate student Maxwell Kretuzelman and freshman Jan Koska as 2024 Empacher-IRCA All-Americans, the organization announced on Thursday morning.
Kreutzelman garnered First Team honors, while Koska was a Second Team selection. Kreutzelman is the first Terrier to capture First Team recognition since the organization's inception in 2020. BU has had at least two All-Americans in the last four years as well.
In order to be named an "All-American", rowers and coxswains must have met the following criteria:
Koska also primarily competed in the Terrier V8 during his first year on the Charles River, occupying the two seat at the IRA Championship after spending much of the spring in the bow seat. During his time, BU regained the Jablonic Cup over Wisconsin at the Lake Morey Invite, and swept Holy Cross, Temple, Hobart, and Marist on Lake Quinsigamond in April.
As a team, BU finished 10th overall at the IRA Championship for the third-consecutive season, with all three of its Varsity 8 crews placing inside the top 10.
