Men's Cross Country Takes First at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. — The Boston University cross country team ran its second race of the 2024 season at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational at UMass Dartmouth Saturday. Led by four top five finishes including runner-up Alex Brown, the men took home first against 43 other programs with 22 points, 81 points better than the next best team. The women finished fifth of 45 teams with 163 points.
On the men's 8K course, Brown crossed the line at 24:44.36 to finish second, and he was followed by three Terriers: Tucker Bowerfind, who took third with a 24:48.70 time, Moritz Ebbeskotte with a 24:55.44 mark to take fourth and Karsen Vesty with a 25:08.14 finish placing him fifth overall. Rounding out the five scorers was freshman James American Horse, whose 8K debut saw him take eighth and cross the line at 25:12.81.
In the women's 6K, freshman Caroline Collins led the way, finishing fifth with a 17:42.79 time. Junior Samantha Seabury followed, crossing the line at 18:05.20 and finishing 13th, with sophomore Abby Waddington taking the 27th spot and finishing in 18:22.85. Rounding out the top five were juniors Madeleine Finton and Candace Tytler, who finished in 19:15.56 (54th) and 19:28.96 (69th), respectively.
Next up, the cross country team heads to Lehigh as they partake in the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, on October 5.
