Brown, American Horse Pick Up Weekly Awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Graduate student Alex Brown picked up Patriot League Runner of the Week honors and freshman James American Horse earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week, the league announced Tuesday morning.
In a week where the Terriers powered to a first-place finish on the 8K course at the UMass Dartmouth Invite, Brown led the team with a 24:44.4 time, a new personal best for the Hopkinton, Massachusetts native. He finished as the runner-up in his first race of the 2024 season.
American Horse, a Bentonville, Arkansas native, ran his first collegiate 8K in 25:12.9, finishing eighth at the UMass Dartmouth Invite and rounding out the Terriers' scoring five.
This marks the second time this season the Terriers have had a Patriot League Men's Runner of the Week, with James Hruska taking the honor on Sept. 3, and American Horse is the first Terrier to win Rookie of the Week since Freddy Collins on Oct. 18, 2022.
On the women's side, freshman Caroline Collins earned Patriot League Women's Rookie of the Week after finishing fifth in the 5K at the UMass Dartmouth Invite with a 17:42.8 time.
Next up for Brown, American Horse and the rest of the Terriers is the Paul Short Run at Lehigh on Saturday, Oct. 5.
