BOSTON - Graduate student Miles Brewster posted 19 points and sophomore Kyrone Alexander added 16 points, but the No. 4-seeded Boston University men's basketball program dropped an 86-78 contest to No. 5 Navy in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League tournament Thursday evening at Case Gym.
BU (16-16, 10-8 PL) rebounded from an extended 15-4 run by the Midshipmen (14-18, 10-8 PL) in the game's opening 7:25 to pull within two possessions on multiple instances, including an 82-78 deficit with 19 seconds left in regulation. However, Navy shot 60 percent from the field and posted a 22-9 advantage in made free throws during the second half to end the Terriers' season.
An All-PL Third Team honoree, Brewster finished 7-for-13 from the field, including 3-for-4 from three-point range, to lead BU in scoring. - Facing the 11-point deficit with 12:35 remaining in the half, BU responded with an 8-0 spurt capped by Defty's fre throw at 9:32.
- Three minutes later, Alexander hit a turnaround jumper to pull even closer, 21-19, but Navy continued to have a response.
- Brewster hit a deep 3-pointer before the buzzer to cut the Mids' lead to 32-26 entering the locker room.

- The teams traded baskets for much of the second half with neither team making a big enough run to pull away.
- Facing a 69-58 deficit with 4:29 remaining in regulation after Jinwoo Kim hit a pair of free throws, Defty completed a 3-point play and Chimezie added a putback to pull within six at 4:08.
- Navy though scored four straight points and later finished the game with four straight free throws over the final 19 seconds to advance to Sunday's PL semifinal at top-seed Bucknell.
