
Hruska Wins Friar Invite, Terriers Finish Third

ATTLEBORO, Mass. — The Boston University men's cross country team finished third of six teams with 59 points as it opened its season at the Providence Friar Invite on Friday afternoon.
The Terriers' 59 points tied them with Dartmouth, but the Big Green had the advantage at the sixth and seventh spots. Both teams trailed Northeastern, who won the meet with 58 points.
BU was led by sophomore Dan Hruska, who paced the 6K field with a time of 18:20.20 to pick up an individual win. He was followed by senior Tucker Bowerfind, who took fourth with an 18:29.90 mark. Senior Moritz Ebbeskotte picked up 16th place with an 18:55.54 time. Rounding out the top five were freshmen Will Tempest (17th) and Justin Ruiz (21st), who finished in 18:57.58 and 19:09.63, respectively.
The women's squad took second of four teams in its 4K race, collecting 46 points. They trailed only Providence, who posted 20 points.
Junior Abby Waddington's 14:43.06 was good for fifth place as she was the first Terrier across the finish line. Junior Molly Kiley finished seventh with a 14:54.30 mark. She was followed by classmate Abi Hahn, who posted a 15:05.07 time to take 10th. Junior Merem Gabriel-Rodriguez was to cross the line, finishing 11th in 15:08.85, and freshman Kayla Kerr was the fifth finisher for BU, taking 14th with a 15:12.70 mark.
Both the men and women will be back in action again on Saturday, Sept. 20 as they compete at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational in Dartmouth, Massachusetts.
