BOSTON – After helping lead the Boston University men's basketball team to back-to-back victories with a program-high 57 points, junior Michael McNair earned weekly honors from both CollegeInsider.com and the Patriot League, as announced by both organizations Monday afternoon.
The Temecula, California, native averaged 28.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists, while shooting a combined 71.4 percent (20-of-28) from the field and 75 percent (12-of-16) in 3-point territory in wins against Lafayette (83-67) and Army West Point (100-91).
His impressive shooting performance garnered the Terriers' first Lou Henson Award National Player of the Week award since D.J. Irving ('14) led BU to a thrilling 83-77 win at Maryland with 25 points on Dec. 23, 2013. McNair also claimed the first PL Player of the Week recognition since Walter Whyte ('23) opened the 2022-23 campaign with the honor.
In the first matchup at Lafayette, McNair tallied a personal-best 29 points and then followed up with 28 points against Army to help BU reach 100 points against a fellow conference opponent for the first time since 1989.
The Terriers will next host Lehigh on Wednesday (Jan. 14) at 6 p.m. McNair will enter the contest ranked fifth nationally at 49.2 3FG% and 15th in averaging 3.47 made 3-pointers per game.
