Sumi Cameron (Questrom'24) - Women's Swimming & Diving

- Two-time Patriot League Diver of the Year and three-time All-Patriot League honoree
- Named BU Woman of the Year in 2024
- Graduated from Questrom School of Business Â
- Currently serves as an analyst at Blue Owl CapitalÂ
- Why did you choose to attend BU? "I always knew I wanted to leave California and go to the East Coast for college, and quickly landed on Boston as the city. During my official visit at BU, I fell in love with its campus. I was amazed at how easily I could feel like I was outside of the city when walking through BU beach but then suddenly be on Comm Ave. On top of that, the rigorous academics and welcoming environment of the swim and dive program really sold it."
- What did you enjoy most about your BU experience? "My teammates and practice! Don't get me wrong some days I dreaded practice, but I would give anything to have a few hours carved out of my day to spend time with my best friends."
- How did your time at BU prepare you to get to where you are today? "I've felt that my time management skills have always been decent, but being a student-athlete at BU refined them. Understanding how to balance school vs. athletics vs. social has helped me tremendously at my job. Balancing different projects doesn't seem as daunting when you used to have 6am lift three days a week!"
- Why is it meaningful for you to be involved with the University, Athletics, and Terrier Swimming & Diving as an alumnus? "From professors to coaches to athletic staff, BU shaped me into the woman I am today. I will forever be grateful to everyone that I crossed paths with and want to shape that experience for current student-athletes. Although at times it's weird seeing the Swim & Dive Instagram and not recognizing anyone, it's so amazing to know that other young adults are experiencing the magic of BU and I want to continue to be a part of that."
