HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Greyhounds scored the game's first 10 points in a 3:45 span to coax a BU timeout at the 6:15 mark in the first quarter.
- McLaughlin found sophomore Allison Schwertner for a right-block layup to get BU on the board as the Terriers scored six of the final nine points in the first quarter to slice the gap to 13-6.
- Back-to-back baskets from Amorich replenished the seven-point Greyhound lead, 21-13 with 2:03 to play, but BU responded with a 7-0 run.
- McLaughlin sank a driving layup, freshman Kate Allard made two free throws and junior Audrey Ericksen split the defense for her own layup to bring the Terriers within one.
- However, Amorich beat the buzzer with a right-elbow jumper to stake Loyola to a 23-20 halftime edge.
- That sparked Loyola's 13-0 burst that carried over to the first six minutes of the third, expanding the lead to 34-20 before Allard's midrange jumper.
- Semenova scored BU's final five points in the third on a layup and a nostalgic three-point play, but BU remained down, 38-27.
- The Terriers got back-to-back three-pointers from McLaughlin and junior Inés Monteagudo Pardo, cutting the deficit to 40-33 with 7:36 left in regulation.
- Loyola made five of their next six shots over a four-minute span, however, capped with an Amorich corner triple to make it 49-37 as the clock read 3:17.
- Despite keeping the Greyhounds off the scoreboard from that point, BU only mustered a free throw from senior Anete Adler and a floater from McLaughlin.
- BU made less than 37 percent of its shots and made just two of its 13 three-point tries.
- Loyola Maryland shot 6-for-15 from distance and nearly 41 percent overall.
- The Greyhounds sported a commanding 35-21 edge in rebounds, with seven offensive caroms generating eight second-chance points.
- The Terriers won the paint points, 24-20.
- BU's defense forced 13 Greyhound turnovers.
- All seven of Semenova's double-digit performances have come against Patriot League foes. She boosts her conference scoring average to 10.3 points per game.
- Adler returned to the starting lineup after missing the previous game due to injury.
- The Terriers have lost four straight games for the third time this season.
- Though BU remains ahead 17-10 in the all-time series, Loyola Maryland sweeps the regular season series for the first time in 10 years.
- BU returns to Case Gym on Wednesday (Feb. 11) to host Army West Point. Opening tip is slated for 6 p.m.
