Terrier Twelve - #7: Women’s Soccer Claims Patriot League Regular Season Title

Returning for an 18th year, the Terrier Twelve recognizes the top achievements of Boston University teams and student-athletes from the previous year. Check back each Monday and Thursday this summer as we unveil this year's Terrier Twelve on GoTerriers.com.
Coming in at No. 7 in this year's Terrier Twelve is the women's soccer program, which captured its sixth Patriot League regular season championship in its 13th season as a league member.
Entering the year as the defending champions, BU posted 11 victories for the third time in the last five campaigns. The Terriers posted a 7-1-1 record in Patriot League play, defeating Colgate in the regular season finale on Oct. 29, 2025 to secure the No. 1-seed in the Patriot League Tournament, where they later reached the championship game for a second-straight season.
After conceding a goal in the 64th minute at Army West Point on Oct. 1, the Terriers did not allow a goal for the next 660 game minutes, an eight-match span that lasted all the way to the championship contest on Nov. 9. BU also recorded a seven-game shutout streak at Nickerson Field that began on Sept. 14 up to the title game.
Overall, BU paced the Patriot League and ranked top-25 in Division I across six statistical categories: shots on goal per game, points per game, scoring offense, shots per game, assists per game and shutout percentage.
The Terriers collected seven All-Patriot League honors, including four major awards. First-year head coach Megan Burke and her staff were named the Patriot League Coaching Staff of the Year. Senior Helene Tyburczy became the eighth Terrier in program history to receive the conference's Defensive Player of the Year award. Classmate Giulianna Gianino was selected as both the Midfielder of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Tyburczy and Gianino earned spots on the All-Patriot League First Team while securing All-ECAC honors as well. Classmates Mackenzie Stickelman and Margy Porta also garnered first team recognition. Senior Morgan Weaver and sophomore Bridget Carr were tabbed to the All-Patriot League Second Team while sophomore Olivia Avellar was on the third team.
Gianino set a single-season program record with 15 assists in 2025, ranking first in the nation with 0.79 assists per game. She capped her BU career with 25 assists, tied for the most ever by a Terrier, and 75 points, good for fifth place in the BU annals.
