Terrier Twelve - #6: Lightweight Rowing Medals Twice as IRA National Runner-Up

Returning for an 18th year, the Terrier Twelve recognizes the top achievements of Boston University teams and student-athletes from the previous year. Check back each Monday and Thursday this summer as we unveil this year's Terrier Twelve on GoTerriers.com.
Coming in at No. 6 in this year's Terrier Twelve is the lightweight rowing team, which finished as the national runner-up at the IRA National Championship Regatta for the third time in the last five seasons.
BU earned 61 team points at the event, trailing champion Princeton by just six points while eclipsing Harvard-Radcliffe's 59 points. The Terriers finished first and second in the Lightweight Double and 4+, respectively, while the Lightweight 8+ placed fourth.
The Lightweight Double crew, featuring senior Catherine Clark in the stroke seat and junior Emilia Vukasinovic in the bow seat, crossed the finish line in a comfortable 7:36.678, over seven seconds in front of second-place Wisconsin. With the victory, BU became the first IRA program to win the Lightweight Double in three consecutive years. Clark became the third Terrier ever to win multiple IRA Lightweight Double gold medals, joining Kylie Lough and Grace Beery.
BU's Lightweight 4+, featuring Cece Mason, Sam Angel, Mia Seibert, Kiana Banta and coxswain Lylah Nag, clocked in at 7:25.473 to capture the second Lightweight 4+ silver medal in the last three seasons. The Terriers improved two spots in the event from the previous year.
Seniors Ela Ersan and Caroline Burchette, the latter earning one of the BU athletic department's Aldo "Buff" Donelli Leadership Awards earlier in the spring, represented BU's Lightweight 8+ with their first-career CRCA Lightweight All-American honors. Both Terriers competed in the 8+ for the entire spring.
Prior to the IRA Championship, BU also finished second at the Eastern Sprints on May 3. Four out of the Terriers' five crews earned medals, including gold for both BU doubles and silver for the pair of 4+ boats. The Terriers also claimed four medals in their annual pilgrimage to the Knecht Cup in April; BU's top Double and the Second Varsity 8 finished first while the Lightweight 8+ was second in the field. The Lightweight 8+ captured bronze.
