A gifted athlete whose skills were rivaled by her grace,
Jeanne Crook Classen was a regular first team member of several
sports at Sargent College, who later earned national and regional
recognition following graduation.
At Boston University, she was a standout performer on the
basketball, field hockey, volleyball, and tennis teams. Her
natural talents and athletic dexterity often left admirers
praising her elegant style as much as her accomplishments.
Although her time at Boston University came to a halt in the spring of 1948, Classen's athletic career continued to flourish. In team sports, Classen received All-Midwest Field Hockey recognition in 1948, while in individual competition, she enjoyed considerable success in tennis.
In later years, Classen became more involved in the sport
of squash, and won the national doubles championships from
1960-62 and again in 1965-66.
