Alington Paul enters his third consecutive season with the Boston University men's basketball team as an assistant coach and sixth year overall on Commonwealth Ave. after working as an assistant coach at Yale from 2021-23.

While coaching at Yale, the Bulldogs went a combined 41-21 with a 2022 NCAA tournament berth and 2023 National Invitation Tournament (NIT) appearance.

During his first stint with the Terriers from 2018-21 that included him spending the last two seasons as director of operations, he helped BU claim its first Patriot League tournament title along with the program's first-ever win against the Southeastern Conference at South Carolina. In his first year as the video coordinator, he oversaw all aspects of the video editing systems while also creating scouting reports, highlight films and playbooks.

Paul joined the Terriers in the summer of 2018 after serving two years as an assistant coach at Putnam Science Academy and two more years as a graduate assistant at Castleton University, where he earned his master’s degree in athletic leadership in 2016. He played two seasons at Wells and graduated with a bachelor’s in business administration in 2014 after completing his associate’s degree from SUNY Delhi.

The two-time team captain earned NEAC Third-Team All-Conference honors his senior year after leading Wells in scoring (11.6), free throw percentage (79.3) and ranking second on the team in rebounding (5.0). As a junior he helped Wells reach the NEAC Title game while finishing third on the team in scoring (10.8).

At SUNY Delhi, Paul helped the Broncos win a pair of NJCAA Mountain Valley Conference Championships in his two years. In his second season, the team finished third in the NJCAA Division III National Tournament.
