A former team captain and two-time team MVP, John Papale ('16) rejoined the Boston University men's basketball team in AugustĀ 2017 as a special assistant to his former coach, Joe Jones, and was elevated to the video coordinator position in November 2017 before taking over the director of basketball operations role in July 2018.Ā

One of Jonesā first signees at BU, Papale played a critical role in helping the Terriers reach three postseason tournaments and claim the programās first conference regular season title in a decade. As a senior, the two-time Lou Cohen MVP award recipient averaged 11.9 ppg with 2.6 rpg and a program-high 95 3-pointers to key BUās run to the second round of the 2016 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. He currently ranks No. 1 all-time at BU in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.36), No. 2 in career treys (287) and tied-for-first in games played (129).
