After graduating this past May, Meaghan Grimes continues her tenure with the BU swimming and diving program as the team's graduate assistant for the 2014-15 season. A four-year letterwinner at Boston University, Grimes competed in the 500 and 1650 freestyle.

"After a great career at BU that included team records in both the 1000 and 1650 Freestyle events, Meaghan has chosen to follow the path of collegiate coaching at her alma mater," head coach Bill Smyth said. "Meaghan will be working with all groups with a specific emphasis on the distance swimmers. Meaghan brings a high level of energy and enthusiasm as well as a love for the sport. She will be a tremendous coach."

"It is an amazing opportuinity to get to assist two great coaches - Bill Smyth and Jen Strasburger this season and next season," Grimes said. "After battling a shoulder injury for my last three years of swimming, I really became invested in learning the technical aspects of swimming and how to make each athlete faster and more efficient in the pool. I am extremely excited to learn many of the ins and outs of coaching a Division I program."

Grimes isn't new to coaching, having spent the last three summers as a coach at the BU SwimSport Competitive Swim Camp where she learned to coach all different age groups.

Grimes is currently enrolled in the Masters of Education in Coaching program at Boston University. She is also serving under the BU Aquatics Manager as the Graduate Assistant for Aquatics in the BU Fitness and Recreation Center.

A native of Dracut, Mass., Grimes attended Dracut Senior High School where she swam for the Crimson and became a U.S> National Qualifier.
