Cindy Blodgett completed her her first season as an associate head coach and fourth season on staff in the 2017-18 season.
Blodgett was instrumental in guiding freshman Katie Nelson to be named to the Patriot League All-Rookie Team this past season. Blodgett was promoted to associate head coach in May, 2017 after guiding the Terriers to a 10-game turnaround and an 11-7 record in Patriot League games during the 2016-17 season.
A 12-year coaching veteran in the Northeast, Blodgett came to BU following a successful playing career at the University of Maine and a four-year tour in the WNBA where she and head coach Katy Steding spent the 2000 season as teammates on the Sacramento Monarchs.
This is Blodgett's second stint on Commonwealth Ave, as she began her coaching career with the Terriers as an assistant coach for the 1999-2000 season. During her time at BU, she assisted with recruiting and film exchange in addition to on-court coaching.
Hired as the head coach at her alma mater in May 2007, Blodgett spent four years at the helm of the Black Bears and coaching against the Terriers as members of the America East Conference. Most recently, Blodgett served as an assistant coach at Rhode Island from 2011-14.
In 2005, she joined the Brown University staff as an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator. In her two seasons with the Bears, she handled recruiting and scouting as well as team travel, skill and conditioning workouts and postseason development programs. She also organized and directed the Brown Summer Camp.
Before embarking on her coaching career, Blodgett was selected sixth overall by the Cleveland Rockers in the 1998 WNBA draft. Blodgett spent one season in Cleveland before being traded to Sacramento, where she was a member of the Monarchs from 1999-2001. She also played internationally in Korea (WKBL) and France (FIBA).
As the 10th-leading scorer in NCAA women's basketball history, Blodgett completed her stellar four-year career with 3,005 points and a total of 20 program records. She led the Black Bears to four America East tournament championships and the school's first four NCAA tournament appearances in program history.
The four-time All-American was just the second woman in NCAA Division I history to lead the nation in scoring for two consecutive seasons as she averaged over 27 points per game during her sophomore and junior campaigns. She was a two-time America East Player of the Year and was a preseason candidate for the Naismith Player of the Year award in 1997 and 1998.
In addition to her on-the-court accomplishments, Blodgett was also a standout in the classroom and received Academic All-America honors in 1998. She graduated cum laude with a B.S. in elementary education in 1998.
The Clinton, Maine, native led Lawrence High School to four-straight Class A State Championships and is Maine's all-time leading scorer in high school basketball with 2,596 points. She was a three-time Maine Gatorade Player of the Year and named Miss Basketball in Maine in 1994.
