Shay Clevenger enters her second season as an assistant coach for the Terriers in 2024.

Clevenger, a recent graduate from Loyola, made her collegiate coaching debut with the Terriers in 2023.

“We are thrilled to welcome Shay to the program,” said Morton. “Shay brings incredible on-field and leadership experience from her time at Loyola. Shay understands and aligns with our vision and values, and we are excited for her to get started. She has succeeded at the highest level in the Patriot League and we look forward to her making an impact on our program.”

As a senior, Clevenger was named to the Patriot League All-Conference first-team. She was second on the Loyola squad in caused turnovers (13) and ground balls (25) and took the conference Defender of the Week title in the final week of the regular season.

“I am very excited for the opportunity to join the Boston University women’s lacrosse staff,” said Clevenger. “I am grateful to be able to join the BU lacrosse program and the BU family.”

The team captain played a significant role in keeping Loyola nationally ranked in the top-10 for the entirety of the 2022 season, peaking at No. 6 ahead of the NCAA Tournament. Clevenger and the Greyhounds advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals with wins over Mount St. Mary’s and JMU.

“I am extremely excited for Shay to join the coaching staff at Boston University,” said Loyola women’s lacrosse head coach Jen Adams. “Shay was an incredible captain, leader and teammate throughout her playing years at Loyola and I have no doubt that it will translate into her coaching at the next level. Shay knows what it takes to be a successful student-athlete in the Patriot League and I am looking forward to seeing the positive mark that she will make on the Boston University Women’s Lacrosse program this season.”

Clevenger assisted the Greyhounds to two Patriot League titles in her tenure in the 2021 and 2022 seasons. The 2022 title marked Loyola’s sixth conference title in eight years.

She also helped Loyola to its eighth-straight regular season Patriot League title in 2022, recording five ground balls in the deciding game. The Greyhounds went 9-0 in the conference last season.

Clevenger graduated from Loyola in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology.
