Trevor Cote joined the Boston University Department of Athletics as the director of clinical sports psychology & athlete wellness in November 2024.
 
In this newly created position made possible through expanded collaboration with behavioral medicine and athletic training, Cote will provide oversight of mental health services to Boston University's student-athletes as a clinical sports psychologist while leading the department's wellness efforts.
 
Cote, who earned his doctorate in counseling psychology from Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development, was most recently at Providence College as the Friars' associate director of clinical sports psychology services and he has also worked at Holy Cross and USA Hockey.
 
Cote's most recent work at Holy Cross and Providence was focused on providing psychological care to student-athletes, teams, coaches and athletic support staff. An additional focus, priority and passion has been collaborating with senior staff within the respective athletic institutions on integrating psychological care as a tenet to creating an effective athletic system and culture.

A member of the CCSPA (Clinical/Counseling Sport Psychology Association) and the Association of Applied Sport Psychology, Cote received his bachelor's degree in psychology from Wheaton College. He earned a master's in sport & performance psychology from Denver before completing his PhD at BU.

Cote is also co-owner of HIGHLANDS performance and psychological services, a private practice that specializes in general individual therapy, individual sport and performance psychological services, and consultation.
