Terrier Twelve - #10: Cejnarova Claims Third Straight PL Title

July 18, 2017

For the 10th straight year, GoTerriers.com will once again count down the top 12 achievements of Boston University teams and student-athletes from the previous year. Check back each Tuesday and Friday as we reveal this year's Terrier Twelve.

Coming in at No. 10 in this year's Terrier Twelve is Adela Cejnarova of the golf team. She made history by winning her third consecutive individual title at the Patriot League Championship, becoming the first golfer, male or female, in conference history to accomplish that feat. Cejnarova carded a 54-hole score of 222 (77-71-74), including a one-under 71 in the second round, which was the only under-par score during the entire weekend. The 2017 Patriot League Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year now owns the three lowest 54-hole totals in conference tournament history.

BU earned its second straight runner-up finish at the Patriot League Championship thanks to having three golfers in the top three of the leaderboard. Phyllis Tang finished second with a score of 225 (77-73-75) while Megan Carter tied for third with a 227 (80-72-75). Cejnarova, Tang and Carter all earned First Team All-Patriot League honors. For both Carter and Tang, it was their second time earning All-Patriot League accolades.

The strong performance from the Terriers at the conference tournament capped an impressive 2016-17 campaign. BU twice set a new 54-hole program record this spring, with the new school standard at 896 after an impressive showing at the Harvard Invitational. That record came just one week after BU recorded a score of 898 at the Babs Steffens Invitational, breaking 900 for the first time in program history. The Terriers also finished the year with four top-five finishes over their last five tournaments. BU projects to once again be competitive in 2017-18, with four of the Terriers' five scorers from the conference tournament returning to the roster.
