Women's Crew Inks Six Recruits for 1999-2000

BOSTON - The Boston University women's crew program, under the direction of head coach Holly Hatton and assistant coach Gailyn Perrin, has signed six student athletes for the 1999-2000 season.
"The group of six athletes signed by Boston University women's crew promises to be one of the strongest recruiting classes we have had yet, "Hatton said.
"Their attitudes and goals are reflective of our main mission at B.U., which is to be the strongest women's team in the country. We feel our mission will only be accomplished by having team players, who are committed to each other. Our incoming recruits fit that description."
Darci Mix San Diego, CA (5-7, 160) Transfer from San Diego State University.
Quoting Hatton on Mix: "Darci Mix brings a great deal of maturity and physical strength to the team which we feel will be a great asset to the program."
Kari Oversvee Everett, WA (5-8, 165) Rowed at Everett High School and the Everett Rowing Association.
Quoting Perrin on Oversvee: "Kari is a very strong rower from a very competitive program in Washington who brings with her enthusiasm and a tremendous work ethic. Her high standards will definitely push her teammates."
Ilka Fedor Ottawa, Ontario Canada (5-9, 165) Attended Colonial Bay S.S. and rowed with the Ottawa Rowing Club.
Quoting Perrin on Fedor: "Coming to B.U. from an impressive Canadian Rowing Program, Ilka's former coaches describe her as 'a well rounded oarsperson with excellent technique, physical, and mental strength.' She is the kind of team player that we look for in our recruits."
Ariel Kraten Lake Oswego, Oregon (5-8, 160) Attended Lakeridge High School and rowed with Oregon Rowing Unlimited.
Quoting Perrin on Kraten: "Ariel is a very bright student who comes from a very competitive high school and rowing program in Oregon. Her team has consistently been at the top for junior women in the country, which gives her a very solid racing background. Her racing experience will be a tremendous addition to the team."
Katherine Haimes St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada (5-9, 150) Attended Holy Cross Secondary School and participated on the St. Catharines Rowing Program.
Quoting Hatton on Haimes: "Katherine comes to B.U. with a strong Junior National Team Background. She rows for St. Catharines Rowing Club, one of the strongest and most competitive programs in Canada. Her high level of experience and winning attitude will have a significant impact on the team."
Lauren Rogers Rosemont, PA (5-11, 175) Attended the Baldwin School and was a member of the Bachelors Rowing Program.
Quoting Perrin on Rogers: "Lauren is a strong athlete with a lot of potential. She is a hard worker and is committed to pushing herself and her teammates to new levels of success."
