BURLINGTON, VT--Paul Seymour scored 20 points and Dereck Franklin added 15 points for the Terriers, but it wasn't enough as Boston fell to Vermont in double overtime, 86-85... Vermont's Tony Orciari made two free throws with two seconds left to give Vermont the win... Scotty Jones' dunk and a 3-pointer by David Roach gave the Catamounts an 85-80 lead with 2:24 remaining in the second extra session. But BU, down to its last five players because of fouls and injuries, pulled even again on a lay-up by Ignatio Rodriquez and a 3-pointer by Paul Seymour with 16 seconds left... Vermont ran the clock down and as Orciari drove the lane, he was fouled by Seymour... Orciari finished with 27 points and Seymour had 20 for the Terrier... Dereck Franklin tallied 12 of his 15 points in the first half as BU jumped to a 35-27 lead at the break... BU tied it at 70 at the end of regulation time on Jean Avebe's foul-line jumper with 25 seconds left... Orciari hit two free throws with 17 seconds left in the first overtime for a 77-all tie.
Hard Luck Terriers

The Terriers' string of close, down to the wire losses started on Tuesday, January 11th, against Liberty... Leading 59-54, with 23 seconds to play, Liberty rallied to within two, 59-57, with 13 seconds left, and won it at the buzzer on a three-pointer... Seymour is the first Terrier to be honored by the conference this season. The last Terrier to earn Rookie of the Week laurels was Dereck Franklin last January 24th... Seymour, a 6-5 guard, scored 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting in last Friday's (January 21st) 68-60 loss at Hartford. All of his points came from three-point range, where he shot 6-of-10. The six three-pointers equaled his career high that he established at James Madison on November 23rd in a 91-79 overtime loss. The six three-pointers were the most by a Terrier since Billy Beal ('99) made seven against New Hampshire on January 12, 1999... At Vermont on Sunday, January 23rd, Seymour led the Terriers with 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting, in an 86-85 double overtime loss. He scored 18 of his points in the second half and the two overtimes. His fourth three-pointer of the game tied the game at 85-85 with 16 seconds left in the second overtime... Seymour has led the Terriers in scoring five times this season, including a career-high 23 points vs. Delaware on January 14th in a 62-59 loss. In that same game, he recorded a double double with 10 rebounds. He and teammate Jean Avebe, who had 16 points and 14 rebounds, also became the first B.U. duo since Walter Brown (22 points and 14 rebounds.) and Joey Beard (15 points and 13 rebounds January 28, 1998 at Drexel) to register double doubles in the same game. B.U. trailed 16-15 with 8:37 to play in the first half, when the Dragons reeled off a 7-0 run to take a 23-15 lead with 1:41 to play in the half... Drexel's Stephen Starks and Petrick Sanders highlighted the run with a three-pointer and a jumper... The Terriers closed out the half with two free throws by freshman guard Matt Turner and a jump shot by sophomore forward Jerome Graham... Both teams shot poorly in the first half. B.U. shot 23.1 % from the field in the first half (6-of-26), while Drexel faired a little better at 29.6 % (8-of-27)... In the second half, Drexel opened up its biggest lead at 14, 39-25 with 12:12 remaining in regulation... At 11:48 of the second half, Costello moved past Billy Beal ('99) 163 3-pt field goals, with his 164th career field goal .. The two teams traded baskets for the next two minutes, and at 7:22 of the second half, B.U. cut the deficit to seven, 43-36 on a driving layup by Dereck Franklin... Last Friday, January 21st at Hartford, the 6-0 guard made his first collegiate start, handing out three assists in 31 minutes of action... Last Sunday, January 23rd at Vermont, Michalek played 41 of a possible 50 minutes in the Terriers' 86-85 double-overtime loss... In the loss, Michalek distributed a career-high 12 assists against three turnovers for a 4-to-1 assist to turnover ratio... His 12 assists were the most since Dave Stiff also had 12 versus Rider on November 25, 1994... Meet The Newest Terrier Tim Kelley
Tim Kelley, a former team manager, has walked-on to the team and will wear the number 50... The 6-0, 180-pound guard joined the team prior to last weekend's games at Hartford and Vermont... Kelley played four minutes of the second overtime at Vermont last Sunday... Kelley, will provide the Terriers some added depth late in games if injuries or foul trouble arise.

Sophomore forward Jerome Graham (N. Minneapolis, MN) has started the last 12 games for the Terriersafter coming off the bench during the first five games of the season... At Vermont, on January 23rd, the 6-8 forward recorded his first career double-double with 11 points and a career-best 13 rebounds... Kudlacz is sixth on the team in scoring, averaging 7.3 ppg and is third in field goal percentage, connecting on 44.7 precent of his attempts (46-of-103)... He has a team-high 13 blocked shots and is second in rebounding with 4.6 rpg... Kudlacz sat out the first three games of the season due to an ankle injury... On December 9th vs. Maine, Kudlacz recorded his first collegiate double-figure outing with 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting in 16 minutes In the December 7th win over Harvard, Kudlacz was 4-of-4 from the floor en route to his third straight eight-point outing... The 6-8 forward made his collegiate debut at Providence on November 30... In 23 minutes of action, he scored eight points on 4-of-7 shooting and collected two rebounds... Grochowalski Red-Shirted For 1999-2000 Season
Boston University freshman forward Jason Grochowalski (Shrewsbury, PA/Worcester Academy) will miss the remainder of the 1999-2000 season due to a season-ending shoulder injury that will require surgery... The 6-6,190-pound forward initially dislocated his left shoulder in practice on October 30 and reaggravated the injury during the Providence game on November 30th..."It is unfortunate that Jason has had an injury-plagued first semester," said head coach Dennis Wolff... "Actually, we have had him for only about a week. He had to rehab the shoulder for most of the pre-season. Then, we had him for three practices before our road trip to Florida and James Madison. He played in the three games, practiced for the Providence game, and then got hurt against Providence..."We plan to red-shirt him this year," continued Wolff. Grochowalski had his shoulder operated on December 26th... Grochowalski appeared in the Terriers' first four games, averaging 2.0 ppg and 2.3 rpg. Grochowalski was also averaging 11.3 minutes per game.
Sadusky Joins Grochowalski As A Red-Shirt
Freshman guard John Sadusky (Fairfax, VA/DeMatha Catholic) will miss the remainder of the 1999-2000 season due to chronic lower back pain... Sadusky was the second freshman to be red-shirted by head coach Dennis Wolff this season... Sadusky, a 6-0, 180-pound guard, has been plagued by lower back pain for most of the season... "It's (lower back pain) been an ongoing problem since the first week of practice with no sign of improvement," said Wolff. "The best thing for John now is to start to rehab."... Sadusky, a McDonald's All-American nominee last season, appeared in five games for the Terriers. He had six assists, three steals, and three rebounds in 63 minutes of action.
Turner Ruled Academically Ineligible For Second Semester
Boston University freshman guard Matt Turner (West Haven, CT) has been ruled academically ineligible for the second semester, head coach Dennis Wolff announced Monday, January 10th... The Terriers (3-10 overall, 2-3 in America East), who started the season with its youngest squad in program history, have lost its third member of the Class of 2003... On November 30th, freshman forward Jason Grochowalski (Shrewsbury, MA) was red-shirted due to a separated shoulder that required surgery. Then, on December 23rd, freshman guard John Sadusky (Fairfax, VA) was also red-shirted due to chronic back pain... Turner, a 5-9 guard, appeared in 13 games, starting eight. He was the Terriers' third-leading scorer averaging 8.0 ppg and reached double-figures in six games... Turner's best effort of the season was in his collegiate debut against Northern Illinois University in the first round of the Doral/Florida International Tip-Off Classic. Turner scored a career-high 20 points and handed out a career-high six assists in the Terriers' 78-65 loss.
