Foursome Lead Terriers To Impressive Win Over BC

Senior Jeff Graves (Rockwell, TX), freshman Victor Paguia (Lake Forest, IL), junior Doug Mark (College Point, NY), and sophomore Jay Toutant (Madison, WI) all won two events to lead the Terrier men's swimming and diving team to an impressive 173-127 win over Boston College on Wednesday night (January 23rd). The victory upped the team's record to 5-1.
Graves had two of his best times of the year as he won both the 100 and 200 fly in :52.67 and 1:56.86, respectively. In the meantime, Paquia won both the one- and three-meter dives, while Mark won the 1000 in 10:18.31 and the 500 in 4:55.58. Finally, Toutant won the 100 backstroke in :53.69 and the 200 back in 1:53.83.
The Terriers got off on the right foot with a surprising win in the 200 medley relay. The quartet of Graves, Toutant and freshmen Chris Collins (Phoenix, AZ) and Pablo Morales (San Juan, PR) were timed in 1:40.31. B.U. also won the 400 freestyle relay with its best time of the year-3:15.89. The four who swam the event were freshman David Brown (Fallbrook, CA), sophomore Ryo Takano (Ardsley, NY), Graves, and Toutant.
Right after the Terriers set the tone for the meet with the win in the 200 medley relay, they followed with a 1-2 finish in the 1000 freestyle by Mark and senior David Rosado (Madrid, Spain). While Mark was timed in 10:18.31, Rosado was clocked in 10:29.82. Rosado also finished second to Mark in the 500 with a time of 5:04.75.
In addition to his swimming on the winning 400 freestyle relay, Dave Brown came back to win the 200 freestyle (1:42.72).
Other Terriers in action were - Sophomore Brent Bernkrant (Queensbury, NY) came in 7th in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:55.99 and 6th in the 500 freestyle in 5:15.06 minutes - Sophomore Mark Bassotti (Delmar, NY) had a time of 1:00.03 in the 25 freestyle as he placed 4th - Senior Mark Halko (Corvallis, OR) finished 3rd in the 200 butterfly with 2:05.15 and in the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.64 at 6th place - Junior Norman Harrower (Arlington, VA) placed 2nd in the 100 butterfly at 55.24 seconds and 4th in the 200 butterfly with 2:05.23 - Sophomore Scott Henderickson (Mystic, CT) came in 7th in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke with times of 53.70 and 1:03.51, respectively. - Junior Aaron LeValley (Elma, NY) had a time of 2:11.14 as he placed 6th in the 200 backstroke - Sophomore Justin Reid (Elizabeth, ME) swam in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:43.54 and in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:12.57 as he finished 6th in both
