Paquia Shines But Terriers Lose To Connecticut, 159-126
November 16, 2002 | Men's Swimming & Diving

Sophomore diver Victor Paquia won both the one- and three-meter dives, but those were the only first-place finishes for the Terrier men's swimming and diviing team which bowed to host University of Connecticut, 159-126, on Saturday (November 16th).
Paquia scored 271.72 points in the one-meter event and came back to take a first in the three-meter with 287.47 points.
Unfortunately, that was the extent of the first places for the Terriers whose record fell to 1-2 overall.
"Connecticut had not only quality but also quantity," Terrier head coach Reagh Wetmore was quoted as saying in the B.U. student newspaper, The Daily Free Press. "We were expecting that, though."
While Paquia had the only two first-place finishes, there were a number of other excellent performances. Senior Doug Mark (College Point, NY) finished second in the 1,000 free and fourth in the 500 free. Freshman Ryan Falk (Sarasota, FL) was second in the 100 breaststroke. Junior Ryo Takano (Elmsford, NY) was fourth in the 200 free. Finally, sophomore Chris Collins (Phoenix, AZ) was fourth in both the 100 and 200 backstroke.
