Seventh Heaven: Terrier Women Capture America East Title

BOSTON - The Boston University women's cross country team won its seventh straight America East Cross Country title on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 3) at Franklin Park.
The Terriers, who had five runners place in the Top 12, were led by graduate student Sherida Bird (Prescott, Arizona), who finished the 5,000-meter course in fourth place with a time of 17:51.
Following the meet, Terrier head coach Bruce Lehane was honored as America East Women's Coach of the Year for the seventh time in his career.
Bird led the group of five Terriers who finished within 44 seconds of each other, earning 36 points off fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-place finishes.
Sophomore Dina Mijuskovic (Split, Croatia) followed a step behind Bird, also finishing in 17:51 while earning a fifth-place finish. Freshman Jessica Iannacci (Lunenburg, MA) trailed right behind Mijuskovic, finishing in 17:52 in sixth-place.
Graduate Student Charlotte Coffey (Bristol, England) finished in 10th place in a time of 18:28, followed by senior co-captain Bolpar Vinh (Kingston, ONT) who took 11th place with a time of 18:35.
Stony Brook's Jenny Payne won the individual title in 17:32 while leading the Seawolves to a second-place finish with 43 points. New Hampshire took third with 78 points, followed by Vermont (113), Albany (118), Maine (161), Binghamton (173), Northeastern (191), and Hartford (292).
Four other Terriers enjoyed Top 40 finishes but did not factor in the scoring. Junior Jessica Walton (Fonda, NY) finished in 18:51 for a 15th-place finish. Sophomore Julia Nazzer (Wanganuii, New Zealand) came in 25th in 19:00, followed by sophomore Julia Hincman (Wakefield, MA) who finished in 26th in 19:01. Sophomore Mary Kingston (Natick, MA) completed the course in 19:13 for 33rd place.
Up next, the Terriers compete at the NCAA Regional Championships on Saturday, November 16th at Van Cortlandt Park, N.Y.
