Terriers Finish 24th At NCAA Regionals

The Bronx, NY - Boston University earned a 24th-place finish at the 2004 NCAA Northeast Regionals at Van Cortlandt Park in The Bronx, N.Y., on Saturday, Nov. 13. Sophomore Phil Shaw (Andover, MA) finished first among the Terriers and 117th overall.
Cornell's Bruce Hyde won the individual title, covering the 8,000-meter course in 30:36.1. With four runners in the top 12, Providence won the team competition with a meet-low 51 points.
Shaw, who was also the Terriers' top finisher at the 2004 America East Championship, placed 117th with a time of 33:36.3.
Freshman Jake LaRoe (Sugar Loaf, NY) finished his first collegiate campaign on a high note, placing second on the team and 139th overall with a time of 34:07.5.
Junior Mike Fisher (Newton, MA) was third for the Terriers and 148th overall, crossing the finish line in 34:25.4.
Also factoring in the scoring for B.U. were sophomore Greg Sinnott (Center Moriches, NY) and senior Kiran Umapathy (Woodbridge, CT). Sinnott placed 174th with a time of 35:07.3, while Umapathy finished in 190th with a time of 35:25.5.
Sophomores Nick Goodman (Watertown, MA) and Dan Sieckiewicz (Westerly, RI) rounded out the Terrier finishers. Goodman came in 201st with a time of 36:04.0, and Sieckiewicz was in 203rd in 36:11.4.
