BOSTON, MA-Terrier senior Victor Paguia, who won both the one- and three-meter dives in the Terriers' meet against the University of Massachusetts last Saturday, Nov. 13, has been named the America East Diver of the Week.
The Lake Forest, IL resident remained undefeated this season in both his specialties as he won the one-meter dive with 298.2 points and the three-meter dive with 323.7 points against the Minutemen.
During the past three years, Paguia has been the dominant diver in America East winning both events at the annual Championship. He has been voted the America East Diver of the Year in each of his three seasons, and, last season, he was selected the ECAC Diver of the Year.
"He came to Boston University with a lot of experience," said Terrier diving coach Agnes Gerlach-Miller. "And, that has certainly made a big difference with his success.
"He is a natural diver," continued the coach. "He is quick and enters the water clean."
The last three year, Paguia has advanced to the NCAA Zone Championships and hopes this year he will qualify for the NCAA Division 1 Diving Championship.
"Victor has a national-level list of dives," said Gerlach-Miller. "And, he is consistent with his hard dives. Hopefully, this year, he will qualify for the NCAAs."
