Terrier Women's Crew Advances At Henley Royal Regatta

LONDON, England - The Boston University women's eight crew qualified to compete at the Henley Royal Regatta by the narrowest of margins in a Remenham Challenge Cup qualifying time trial on Friday, June 25.
Three seconds were all that separated the fastest five crews, with the Terriers finishing third of the nine participating crews, securing one of the four available spots. The time trial was based solely on time, as the nine crews raced single file over the one-mile, 550-yard Thames River course.
BU, led by head coach Holly Hatton, finished just ahead of Boston College, which, along with Princeton University, were the only other U.S. contingents on hand for the trial.
The four crews, including BU, will now join the other four pre-selected crews at one of the world's premier rowing events, the Henley Royal Regatta. The Terriers will race against the Thames Rowing Club in a quarterfinal event. That race will be held on either Thursday, July 1 or Friday, July 2. The semifinal and final will be held on Saturday, July 3 and Sunday, July 4, respectively.
The Terrier women have been in England for more than two weeks. Their initial competition came in the Reading Regatta on June 12-13. This was considered the warm-up to the Henley Women's Regatta, which was rowed on June 19-20.
