
Wilcox Named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week

BOSTON ??? Boston University women???s ice hockey goalie Allyse Wilcox (Grand Blanc, Mich.) was named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, Oct. 24, for leading the Terriers to an undefeated 1-0-2 record in the past week and the first Hockey East victory in program history.
Wilcox proved critical in a 3-3 tie on Tuesday, Oct. 18, making 39 saves against cross-town rival Boston College in the teams??? first meeting at the Division I level. Opening a weekend series with the University of Vermont on Saturday, Oct. 22, Wilcox made 42 saves to preserve another 3-3 tie. In the series finale, her 16 saves lead BU to a 4-1 victory.
Also earning recognition from the league were forward Laurel Koller and defenseman Amanda Shaw, who were named to the league Honor Roll. Koller scored three goals and had an assist on the week with two goals against BC. Shaw had four assists on the week, one against BC and three in the series finale against Vermont.
The Terriers travel to Northeastern on Wednesday, Oct. 26, for a rematch of the Hockey East season opener, in which BU dropped a close 4-3 decision for their only loss of the season.
