Terriers in Fourth After Day One of BU Invitational

BOSTON - After day one of competition at the Boston University Terrier Invitational, the women's swimming and diving team is currently in fourth place out of ten teams, while the men's squad is fourth out of five teams.
On the women's side, sophomores Christina Ruggiero and Brigette O'Shaughnessy turned in strong performances in the 500-yard freestyle and 200 IM, respectively. Ruggiero placed fourth in the 500 free with a time of five minutes, 06.74 seconds, while O'Shaughnessy clocked in at 2:10.42 in the 200 IM.
On the men's side sophomore Arik Seiler had a productive afternoon, placing fifth in the 500 free (4:39.17), sixth in the 50 free (22.08) and swam the closing leg of the 400-medley relay team that placed third (3:29.28). Jeff Wurm got things started for the relay team, followed by Eric Carlson, Matt Rickett and Seiler.
Rickett also finished a close sixth to Seiler in the 50 free, clocking in at 22.09.
Tomorrow preliminary rounds will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the finals will commence at 6:00 p.m.
