NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - Junior Sarah Mosser finished first, leading three top-five finishers as the Boston University women's cross country team finished first out of 14 teams at the Central Connecticut State Mini Meet on Saturday morning at Stanley Quarter Park. Sophomore Kathleen Davies was third and senior Mollie Zapata finished fifth in the pack of 117 runners.
The Terriers, ranked 10th in the Northeast Region in the latest USTFCCCA rankings, finished with 49 points to outpace Providence (54 points) and top a field that included regionally-ranked Stony Brook, Providence, Brown and New Hampshire. It was the second win of the season for BU and a Terrier has crossed first in all four races the team has competed in this season.
Mosser navigated the two-mile course in 11:09, crossing the finish line three seconds ahead of Brecken Drager of Wagner. Davies was next with an 11:19 and Zapata finished fifth in 11:22. Freshman Madeline Steiner posted an 11:43 to finish in 18th and classmate Sarah Healy was 22nd with a time of 11:45.
