The Sporting News has once again named Boston the Best Sports City in America after a year that included championships for the Red Sox and Celtics and a perfect regular season for the Patriots.
The magazine's annual rankings are calculated based on factors including won-lost records, postseason appearances, applicable power ratings, number of teams and attendance for professional and college teams in town - including Boston University, which sent five teams to their respective NCAA tournaments last year.
Boston beat out last year's winner, Detroit, for the top spot. The Hub had previously earned the honor in 2002, 2004 and 2005 as well.
