
Waresmith Qualifies for NCAA Diving Championship

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Junior diver Tess Waresmith has qualified for the NCAA championships on the one- and three-meter boards following this weekend's NCAA Zone A Diving tournament. Waresmith earned 585.15 points to place third overall on the 3M and 504.15 points on the 1M. She will compete in Columbus, Ohio from March 20-22.
Waresmith had a standout meet placing third on the 3M board with an overall score of 585.15. In the preliminary round, she earned 297.15 points and in the finals scored 288.0 to qualify the junior transfer for the NCAA tournament.
In the one-meter finals, Waresmith placed seventh overall with 504.15 points.
Waresmith is the first diver to qualify for the national championship since 1982, when Chris O'Hagan and Cathy Butler accomplished the feat.
On the men's side, Andre Waston placed fourth overall on the one-meter with 603.50 points. On the three-meter, he placed ninth with 590.15 points.
The NCAA championships will take place at Ohio State from Thursday, March 20 to Saturday, March 22. The three-meter competition will take place on Friday.
