
BU Women's Rowing Welcomes Four for 2009

BOSTON - Head coach Holly Hatton and the Boston University women's rowing team are pleased to announce the addition of Ally Brooks, Cheryl Copson, Grace Mellowship and Sarah Perkins to the roster. The four athletes make up the Terriers' class of 2012.
Brooks is a three-time Great Britain national junior champion and National Schools champion. A product of the UK, she is also a two-time Women's Henley champion in junior double and a silver medalist in U-23 women's single at Great Britain National Championships. Brooks has competed for Great Britain five times since the age of 16 - at the Great Britain vs. France match in 2006, the 2006 and 2007 Munich International Regatta and the 2006 and 2007 Coupe de la Jeunesse (the European Junior Championships). She took the bronze in the junior women's single at 2007 Coupe de la Jeunesse.
Copson finished third in the Canadian Secondary School Rowing Association (CSSRA) Championships as a freshman, sophomore and junior. She was a silver medalist at the CSSRAs in the women's double as a senior and a gold medalist in the women's single at Rowing Canada's 2008 National Junior Trial. The Ontario, Canada native was selected to the 2008 CanAmMex Team to represent her home country.
Mellowship was named Oarswoman of the Year at Roseville College in New South Wales, Australia as a senior. She competed at Australian National Championships in first eight as a sophomore, junior and senior. Mellowship won the Head of the Clarence and Independent Rowing Association as a junior, the Head of the Paramatta a sophomore and placed third at the Head of the River as a freshman.
Perkins won the U-19 1x at the Australian Nationals and was invited to the U-19 junior selection trials for the Junior World Championships her senior year. A product of Victoria, Australia, she won the Victorian Head of the River as a junior and placed third in the Schoolgirl 8+ Open Division at the Australian Nationals that year. Perkins made the Victorian team for the Youth Olympic Festival, rowing in the 1x, 4x and 8+ as a senior and came third in the 8+. She finished third at the Victorian Head of the River sophomore year.
BU closed out the 2008 season on a strong note, placing three of the four boats field in the Grand Finals at the Eastern Sprints and rowing in the finals of the Sports Council Cup at the Henley Women's Regatta. The Terriers also qualified for the Remenham Challenge Cup at the Henley Royal Regatta.
