The Boston University lacrosse team has been ranked ninth in Division I in Lacrosse Magazine's annual preseason college rankings. The rankings were compiled by Lacrosse Magazine staff after consultations with coaches.
The Terriers were ranked seventh in the final Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association poll last season after capturing the program's seventh America East championship since 2000 and making a fourth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
BU is the top-ranked New England team and one of two America East squads included in the rankings, with conference rival New Hampshire tabbed 13th. In addition to the Wildcats, the Terriers will square off with second-ranked Syracuse, sixth-ranked Penn, 12th-ranked Vanderbilt and 14th-ranked Dartmouth this season. Defending national champion Northwestern was picked to repeat atop the poll.
Head coach Liz Robertshaw returns 10 starters from last year's squad, including All-American Sarah Dalton, who broke BU's single-season goals record in 2008, and six America East All-Conference selections. The Terriers open the season on Feb. 25, hosting Massachusetts at 4 p.m. at Nickerson Field.
