As part of the NFL's year-long celebration of its eight former AFL teams that are celebrating their 50th season, the New England Patriots visited the Denver Broncos on Sunday in a rematch of the first-ever regular-season AFL game, which took place at Boston University Field (present-day Nickerson Field and formerly Braves Field) on Sept. 9, 1960.
The teams wore throwback uniforms from their AFL days and the Patriots referred to themselves by their former name, the Boston Patriots.
Boston University Field served as the home for the Boston Patriots from 1960-62 before the team's home became Fenway Park prior to the 1963 season.
